The objection procedure remains the same
Article 107(2) also applies where an offence is detected by a special electronic device. The objection period is 3 days from service and the competent authority is identified on the notice.
Warning of operation
The requirement is set out in article 107(4) of the Greek Road Traffic Code. It covers special electronic devices and other technical means, including fixed or mobile cameras. They may be installed at fixed locations, on emergency vehicles under article 48 and on public road passenger transport vehicles. Their use is permitted only where fixed or mobile signs warn the public of their presence and operation.
Service and declaration of the actual driver
A notice based on the registration number is served on the presumed owner. If they were not driving, an exclusive 7-day period applies for identifying the actual driver with the required declarations.
Where payment goes
The fine is paid within 2 months to the National Road Safety Fund administered by UOT-IDOU. The service passes it to the beneficiary local authority after retaining the share provided by law.
OTA means a local government authority. In Greece, municipalities and regions are local government authorities. The beneficiary OTA is the local authority to which the particular fine must be transferred.
